Pineapple

Complete, efficient and immediate nutrition that generates profits

Basic Information

The cultivation of pineapples requires warm climates with temperatures of 24-30 °C. A rainfall rate of 1000 -1500 mm per year promotes the yield of the pineapple. However, stagnant moisture must not build up in the soil. The plant grows reliably in sandy, peaty soil, whereby a pH below 5,5 is important. Since the plant requires relatively little water, drip irrigation is sufficient. After harvesting, it is usual to grow further fruits on the side shoots. The pineapple grows on a stem. At first, purple-colored flowers are formed that grow together to form a fruit, which only really begins to ripen when the buds have faded. It takes 16 to 23 months for pineapples to grow and the average production is 30-50 tons per ha, with good management it can reach up to 60-75 tons per ha. Pineapple seedlings can be transplanted from spring to autumn; in warm winter and well-irrigated areas, it can be planted at any time of the year.

It is not possible to foresee all conditions that can occur in practice (e.g. temperature, kind of water, crop protection agents). Therefore, it is highly recommended to test the compatibility and the application of the intended products on a small scale first. We disclaim any responsibilities for damages which may ensue from interactions based on mixtures – especially – with other products, crop protection agents, plant protection products or fertilizers and/or from unusual conditions (temperature, kind of water, etc.). Detailed Description

The main nutritional demands of the pineapple crop concern potassium and nitrogen, since the yield depends on these two elements. The need for phosphorus is low, as it is primarily required during the flowering stage. However, the supply of calcium and microelements such as zinc and boron is important to increase quality and post-harvest life.
The whole life cycle lasts around 16 to 23 months, which is quite long. We can recommend our compound fertilizer NovaTec® or DuraTec® as a base application, which can increase the nutrient efficiency and save labor costs.
During the fast vegetative stage, which needs a lot more nutrients, we can recommend NovaTec® Solub for irrigation systems.
From the seedling to the slow vegetative stage, root growth is important. We can dip seedlings into Basfoliar® Kelp SL solution, then spray or irrigate Basfoliar® Kelp SL and Basfoliar® CaBMg SL after transplanting.
During the flowering stage, Basfoliar® Boro SL and Basfoliar® Zn Flo are good for pollination.
During the fruit growing stage, Basfoliar® CaBMg SL can be applied to increase fruit weight and reduce the black heart disease infection rate after the harvest. Micronutrients from the Fetrilon® Combi line can boost the plant growth. Basfoliar® Avant Natur SL can be used during the whole stage, especially in abiotic stress situations.
