Nuts

A complete and efficient nutrition program with the aim to achieve profitable, healthy and good quality productions

Basic Information

Walnut, hazelnut, peanut, almond, cashew and pistachio - there is a wide variety of nuts. The walnut is a tree of great growth, vigorous, with a strong root system and a high consumption of water and nutrients. The pistachio is not a very selective plant. Pistachio fruits need high temperatures to ripen, but for the dormancy in winter it requires cold temperatures. These two factors are the important limiting factors of pistachio cultivation. The hazelnut needs a humid and temperate climate. It grows well in loamy, humus soils that are rich in nutrients.

Detailed Description

The walnut tree has high needs of nitrogen and potassium and, to a lesser extent, of magnesium and calcium. To achieve a good growth of buds and nuts, the walnut requires important supplements of zinc, boron and biostimulants during the flowering period. The post-harvest is important to achieve a good sprouting in the following season. During the summer period, attention should be paid to high radiation and temperature stress. Therefore, it is suggested to use sunscreens, to avoid sun damage on the fruit and stomatal closure on the leaves for a better water management of the tree. NovaTec® fertilizers (granular and water-soluble fertilizers) guarantee the efficient supply of nitrogen in order to achieve the required levels of this nutrient before the season. Basfoliar® Kelp SL complements this program with the objective to achieve the best performance of the crop.
The current periodicity in pistachio can be reduced with good care. During planting, 50-75 g Basacote® Starter 9M should be applied to the bottom of each pit. If the pistachio is grown in difficult conditions, Basfoliar® liquid fertilizer can be applied.
Hazelnuts are fertilized with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers between November and February. Nitrogen-weighted fertilization is carried out from March to June. In order to increase the quality and the yield, Fetrilon® Combi 2 and Basfoliar® Kelp SL should be mixed from time to time as a foliar application.
