Tomato

Complete, efficient and immediate nutrition for higher yields

Basic Information

Tomato requires high amounts of nutrients. In drip irrigated tomatoes the root growth takes mainly place within the first 20 cm, Tomato is sensitive to anoxia, which influences the nutrient uptaken, thus frequent watering is important as well as a structured medium light soil. Tomato is a perennial-annual vegetable, which means, it can have several cycles of harvesting from fruit-set to fruit sizing and maturity. Thus vegetative and generative growth occur at the same time after the first fruit-setting. This in an important aspect, because it determines how the tomato should be fertilized. This requires a balanced NPK ratio that maximizes production, but does not affect the continuous growth. In case of a potassium overdose, future harvests might be compromised due to poor new stems and less flowering. Calcium is a key nutrient, since the tomato crop is very sensitive to a physiological disorder related to calcium, B.E.R. (Blossom End Rot). Trace elements are very important as there are several harvests and a continuous growth of new tips.

Detailed Description

Tomato cultivation has high nutritional requirements. It needs frequent fertilizer applications. The application of the right mix of fertilizers, in the right doses and at the right time is the key to high yields of this crop. Base fertilization with NovaTec® Classic or DuraTec® can be carried out. For fertigation and foliar application we recommend Hakaphos®, Basfoliar® and HydroSpeed® CaB-Max. Vitanica® Si as anti-stress and biostimulation will provide better fruit setting and more vigorous plants, but also ensures post-harvest quality, as it also supplies silicium. Biostimulant like Vitanica® or Bafoliar® Kelp SL will improve the root system and the beginning of development. Chelated micronutrients as Fetrilon® Combi help the plant to manage sanity and improve the fruit quality.
